About

Welcome to the Fraud Prevention Unit from REGIONAL Federal Credit Union.

REGIONAL was founded by a group of teachers in 1961, and education remains one of the credit union’s core values. REGIONAL feels that knowledge is your greatest ally in the fight against fraud and identity theft, and the FPU is a source of information for both REGIONAL members and the general public.

The FPU blog will be updated several times per week. It will contain details of the latest news in fraud prevention, tips to protect yourself, and other relevant topics.

The Fact Sheets section contains overviews of various major topics in fraud and identity theft prevention. Fact Sheets will be added and updated as new information surfaces.

From time to time, I will produce an educational video, which will be included in blog posts and archived on the site as well. The aim of the Video Dispatches is to entertain as well as educate, so look for corny props, obscure pop culture references, rampant scenery-chewing and the occasional musical number.

Comments and discussion are encouraged, but please refrain from any of the following:

  • Advertising messages, including identity theft-related products or services
  • Abusive, racist, obscene or other offensive language
  • Trolling
  • Wildly off-topic comments
  • Personal attacks
  • Threats
  • Anything not listed above, but essentially idiotic

All comments must be approved by the moderator (me) before they will be posted, so don’t be dismayed if they don’t appear right away. This isn’t a 24/7 gig; I’m in the office Monday through Friday during the day.

Have a good time, and stay vigilant.
