Welcome to the Fraud Prevention Unit from REGIONAL Federal Credit Union.
REGIONAL was founded by a group of teachers in 1961, and education remains one of the credit union’s core values. REGIONAL feels that knowledge is your greatest ally in the fight against fraud and identity theft, and the FPU is a source of information for both REGIONAL members and the general public.
The FPU will be updated several times per week. It will contain details of the latest news in fraud prevention, tips to protect yourself, and other relevant topics. I’m not a computer programmer or network security expert, nor am I an expert on fraud prevention for businesses. What I am doing is writing about fraud prevention for everyday people. You don’t need to know C++ programming language to know how to spot a scam.
Comments and discussion are encouraged, but please refrain from any of the following:
- Advertising messages, including identity theft-related products or services
- Abusive, racist, obscene or other offensive language
- Wildly off-topic comments
- Personal attacks
- Anything not listed above, but essentially idiotic
All comments must be approved by the moderator (me) before they will be posted, so don’t be dismayed if they don’t appear right away. This isn’t a 24/7 gig; I’m in the office Monday through Friday during the day.
Have a good time, and stay vigilant.
